Sudhanshu Misra
(President & CEO), co-founder
Sudhanshu Misra is an experienced semiconductor executive with over 25 years of leadership in advanced materials innovation and commercialization. He has held senior roles at NthDegree, Entegris, Marubeni, and NexPlanar (his previous startup), as well as technical positions at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Texas Instruments. His experience spans business and financial leadership, product development, innovation, trading, risk management, fundraising, and building successful start-ups. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, an MS in Chemical Engineering from Colorado State University, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He also earned an MBA from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida.
Professor S. V. Babu
(CTO), co-founder
Babu Suryadevara, professor emeritus, has been a Professor of Chemical Engineering for over 40 years at Clarkson University and spent eight years at IIT Kanpur before that. He was also the Director of the Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) from 1999 to 2015 and Vice Provost, Research from 2001 to 2004 at Clarkson. During his time at Clarkson, he initiated research into CMP of metal and dielectric films. Clarkson is recognized internationally as a strong leader in multiple aspects of CMP research. He has received two lifetime achievement awards: one from Clarkson and the other from ICPT. He is also the co-author of 32 US patents. Babu received a PhD in Physics from Stony Brook University, an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, and a B.Tech from Andhra University, both in chemical engineering.
Jessica Freyer
Jessica holds a BS in Chemistry from Wake Forest University and a PhD in Chemistry from Columbia University, where she developed polymers for fuel cells and electrochemical devices. After her doctorate, she worked as a management consultant at Putnam Associates serving the biotech industry before joining Rhapsody Venture Partners in 2019. She is now a Partner focused on sourcing and diligencing investments, collaborating with industrial partners, and serving as a board member at portfolio companies.
Sebastian Schoefer
Sebastian Schoefer is Investment Director of M Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. Sebastian is part of the Technology team, covering Electronics and Frontier Tech and Sustainability investments. Previously, Sebastian was Investment Manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds, a German public-private partnership (around EUR 900 million under management) and an early-stage investor. Sebastian holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Cambridge (UK) and gained a M.A. in physics from the University of Texas at Austin (USA). Sebastian is based in Darmstadt, Germany.
Sean D. Doyle
Sean D. Doyle brings over 30 years of experience in the technology sector to ChEmpower, including 21 years at Intel Capital, the venture investment arm of Intel Corporation. As a managing director at Intel Capital, he performed a lead role in executing investments in both privately held and publicly traded semiconductor manufacturing, supply chain, and device companies around the globe. He brings expertise in capital raising, board governance, finance and business operations to Chempower. Sean holds a BA from UC Berkeley and an MBA from The UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Matthew Prince
Matt is a semiconductor industry veteran with over 37 years of experience and a pioneer in Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP). As an Intel Fellow in Logic Technology Development, he led the development and deployment of leading-edge process nodes, playing a foundational role in CMP from its early adoption through advanced architectures including FinFET, high-k metal gate, and Intel’s 18A Gate-All-Around (GAA) with backside power delivery. Over four decades, he has driven CMP innovation across processes, equipment, and consumables, shaping the broader planarization ecosystem. He is a three-time recipient of the Intel Achievement Award and holds over 50 patents, along with numerous publications and invited talks. Following his retirement from Intel in 2025, Matt founded Metolius Consulting LLC. He currently serves as Senior Technical Advisor to ChEmpower Corporation and advisor to Oregon’s Frontiers of Advanced Semiconductor Technology (FAST) initiative. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University.
Scott Shaw
Scott Shaw is Chief of Staff / Technical Assistant to the head of Intel Capital, located in Portland, OR. He joined Intel Capital in 2013. In his role, Scott serves as the primary point of contact between Intel Capital and Intel’s executive office and is responsible for managing Intel Capital’s strategic initiatives. Additionally, Scott is primarily focused on investing in silicon-related companies and corporate divestitures. Scott currently serves as a director or observer on the board of Fabric8Labs, Articul8, ChEmpower, and BoomTV. Prior to Intel Capital, Scott was a Finance Controller in Intel. He holds an MBA from University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan. In his free time, Scott loves to spend time with his family wake-surfing, biking, or completing home renovation projects.
